Week 5 Preseason Training

We've jumped ahead quite a bit on the training schedule because I didn't realize that the first few weeks of fluff we're considered training weeks. It's officially week 5 of my Ironman training program! Today I'm really looking forward to the workout prescription! It's an 1:20 bike with the bulk of the biking focusing on keeping my heartrate at 75% and immediately afterwards a 30 minute aerobic paced run. I haven't done a brick workout in so long I'm glad this plan has it in the works so soon! Still working on strength training. I have my bootcamp class tonight where we will be hitting the abs/core muscles very hard.

Day 2

Today swimming was the prescribed workout. I did a 30 minute interval workout on a spin bike and then head to the pool. I did some kick laps and some pull laps and then some sprints and some regular laps. All in all great workouts today. I cut my swim short because I tanned today and ran out of daycare time! I can't slack on the scheduled swim. Only day 2 and already can't wait to get outside for swims!!

DAY 1 of official TRAINING!! HERE WE GO!

I shouldn't really be so excited. I mean after all, I searched out a plan that was 36 weeks just to to get me to the start of my 24 week program that I'm actually going to follow. As it turns out I am wayyyyyyyyyyyy ahead of the game right now which isn't always a good thing. When coming into a long season of tough training you want to be well rested and while I'm injury free right now I have been doing lots and lots of strength training and fair amount of running. I'm going to be running in the Petit 1/2 marathon on January 30th and then we're off for a week of relaxation in Cancun! I won't work out too much that week. So what does day 1 of an intermediate Ironman training plan look like you ask? Well actually Day 1 is of the plan is nothing because the plan starts on Monday oops. Anyway, I'm heading to the Petit for an 11 mile run! I'll definitely be keeping on my blog now this should get exciting somewhere down the road!

Is it March yet?

I hate not following an official plan yet. It's just random biking and swimming right now and training for the Petit Ice Breaker 1/2 Marathon. I went for a nice ride yesterday and now that my seat was adjusted I can really begin to enjoy the new bike! Rest day today and I'm itching to get a workout in. Early mornings and late morning workouts the rest of the week, YES!

My first date with "Bruce"

First week of official training for the IceBreaker 1/2 marathon and my first official date with Bruce (Bruce is my new bike...Bruce as in Bruce Wayne). Yes, I named my bike...don't judge. :O)

3 mile run this morning and then about a 45 minute ride on the bike. It was chilly but not too bad. Mostly just my toes were cold. I really need to have my seat or my set up adjusted. My crotch was not very comfortable on the bike. I'm having my biking heartrate threshold tested this Saturday in preparation for biking classes at the Bike Doctor in Dousman. I will have Jeff check out my positioning and fix it up! Other than that the ride was pretty sweet!! Temperature outside was 44 and sunny. I can't imagine riding with it too much colder we'll see I guess.

"Sick"

So my son said he was sick this morning....right now he just finished a PB&J and bag of cheetos.. Sick my arss! With all the crap going around I figured I'd keep him home when he complained of a tummy ache and cough. I'm thinking it could be a candy tummy ache! Either way whatever it is it kept me home from my gym this morning so 2 weeks in a row I'll be getting 2 rest days in a row. It's probably a good thing though. Rest is good.

Got my Bike!!

I picked up my new tri-bike on Saturday. I bought a Felt B12. I really love the color (black) and I like the aero design to it. I rode it on the trainer for an hour yesterday but haven't had time to get outside with him yet.. YES, the bike is a he. I named him Bruce as in Bruce Wayne and then he turns into Batman when I need him most! ;O) I think I"m going to need to put my old bike seat on this frame. The seat is really hurting my crotch! I'll make an adjustment on the tilt of the seat and if that doesn't help we'll go with what the crotch knows..the old bike seat. Not much exciting going on right now as far as training goes. Today I lifted weights and then only had time to run 3 miles before I had to get home. Tonight I have a boot camp to teach. Looking forward to a long run on Saturday (9 miles) and possibly to a bike ride on Sunday afternoon... if I'm not too hungover from Halloween night! :O)
